The Conspiracy
As we all know, a ballclub is like a family. Back in ‘97, Cal Ripken Jr. was part of the Baltimore Orioles family. They called him “The Ironman” because he never missed a game. He was a big earner for the family as folks from all over filled the stands at Camden Yards to watch the Ironman build on his streak. One night in August, the boss of the Orioles family, Davy Johnson, gets a call from the Ironman. It seems the Postman got a little too friendly with the Ironman’s wife. The Ironman sent the Postman to the dead letter office, of course, but he was in no shape to play. At 7:35pm, the fans fill the stadium but somehow, the lights in the outfield never turn on and the game is rescheduled. The next day, the Ironman does what he always does; he shows up and plays and builds on his streak. You can always rely on family.
