Early Birds

Were you drinking craft beer in the ‘80s and ‘90s? If so, THANK YOU! If not, here’s a little liquid trip back in time. Once, there was a little pioneering brewery in northern California that brewed several thoughtful, bird-themed ales for folks bold enough to track them down and enjoy them. Drake’s Brewing Company brewmaster and industry treasure John Gillooly, was one of those intrepid flavorsmiths and he guided us in the formulation of this beer using his old brew logs as source material. The result is a big, hop-forward double IPA with rich malt character not seen since “New Kids On The Block” were new kids on the block. Flavors of Cascade and Saaz remind us of where beer has been while Mosaic and Strata show us what our future can taste like.
